For a short time while I was in high school my family owned a pair of goats. I have no idea why we had them or where they came from, but I remember thinking they were pretty cool. They mostly just hung out with the dogs. I used to talk to them (in their own language), and I have to say that at the time I could do a pretty convincing impersonation.

Pretty much from the time we moved in together I’ve been trying to convince J that we really do need a goat. I keep telling him, “think of all the time you’ll save not having to mow the yard”…but I’m afraid he’s not buyin’ it. So if I can’t have a goat in my yard, I figure I should at least be able to have a wall of them in my home. Leave it to the lovely artists of Etsy to answer this lonely goatherd’s prayers.

Of course if goats aren’t your thing, all three artists offer other adorable animals to add to your fold. Happy Monday!

I missed another Thrifty Thursday. Why you ask? Because I’ve been sick…again. I know, it’s total b.s. if you ask me. J keeps calling me “sickly” and despite my earlier protests that this was just a bad winter, I’m beginning to think he might be right. All I can say is thank goodness for Nyquil. Yesterday I slept in till almost 11:00…what? I haven’t done that since…gosh, I can’t remember the last time I slept that late without realizing it. Hopefully after a restful weekend I will be back at it on Monday. And then maybe I’ll finally get around to posting the pics of my thrifty finds. And hey, I might even have something crafty to show you…whoa, I know, crazy idea. I mean, it’s not like this is a craft blog or anything….geez.

Hawaiian quilts. I only wish I had the talent/patience to make one for myself.

I’m going to keep this short, as we have guests coming this evening and certain household chores have been sorely neglected and require my attention. But I wanted to tell you all a little story.

Yesterday I stopped by the Ultimate Money Blog and Mrs. Money was offering a kind of a giveaway…a giveaway with a twist, as she said. Here’s the deal: she’s agreed to send the first five people who comment on this post something handmade (after she herself commented on another blog offering the same thing). I was comment number 4. She made the continuation rule (that those who comment must offer the same giveaway on their blog) optional, but how could I not participate? So, I am offering the same thing to all of you! I too will make it optional for you to offer the same giveaway (mostly to avoid excluding those of you who do not blog), but I will strongly encourage all of you to pass on some handmade love one way or another.

Here are a few things you should know:

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It will be done this year. (before December 31, 2009!)
4- You have no clue what it’s going to be. I sew, embroider, draw (poorly), and participate in many other random crafty acts, so you could end up with just about anything!

If you’re game, just leave a comment below. See you next week!

It’s actually my toe that hurts. I managed to stub it pretty good this morning walking up the stairs. I swear I’m the biggest klutz I know….Anyway…

I had a Thrifty Thursday post planned for today, but I’m afraid it’s just not going to happen. My camera’s batteries are dead, and my charger appears to have died as well. Looks like I’ll be spending some time in the near future searching through receipts…yay! And my thrifted goodies must wait till next week.

I know my visits here have been sporadic at best over the last few weeks. I’ve been a little down-in-the-dumps lately, and I’ve found it very hard to motivate myself to do much of anything. I’m not sure what the full cause is, but I know that the constant applying for jobs and the consistent rejection that follows isn’t helping. I also know that I’m not alone in this situation, and I keep reminding myself to not take it personally. Still, it’s kind of hard not to at times. I’m doing my best to stay positive. Today I brought home a beautiful little salmon-colored gerbera daisy from the grocery store just because it made me smile. I need more things like that in my life.

One very positive thing today is the weather…It’s gorgeous here! And the dogs and I have been able to spend some much needed time playing outdoors. And this weekend a very special puppy friend (and his owners) will be joining us, which I’m really looking forward to.

I wish I had a pretty picture of my new plant to share with you, but like I said, the camera is down for the count, so I’ll share this bit of spring beauty instead. It’s from last spring. I can’t wait for everything to be in bloom again!

March is National Craft Month!

So get out your glue guns and glitter and get your craft on. Woohoo!
